Sources: Steelers have not ruled out Russell Wilson reunion
Published in Football
PITTSBURGH — The Steelers continue to try to sign Aaron Rodgers to be their starting quarterback, but a familiar face has re-entered the picture.
It is possible Russell Wilson could return to the Steelers if ongoing discussions with the four-time league MVP fail to result in a financial agreement, according to multiple sources.
The Steelers never really ruled out the possibility of Wilson, an unrestricted free agent, returning as their starter in 2025. But he wasn’t at the top of their list when they entered discussions with Rodgers and free agent Sam Darnold.
However, with negotiations with Rodgers seemingly at an impasse— and Darnold and Justin Fields having already agreed to deals with other teams — Wilson could become more of a possibility to be re-signed.
Even if Rodgers or Wilson is signed, it increases the possibility the Steelers could take a quarterback higher than expected in the draft.
