DENVER — Nolan Jones is headed back to Cleveland.

The Colorado Rockies traded the corner outfielder back to the Guardians on Saturday in exchange for utility man Tyler Freeman.

Jones was a star for the Rockies as a rookie, hitting 20 homers and flashing elite defensive ability in left field. But his 2024 season was a dud, largely due to injury. He hit .277 with three homers in 79 games.

The Guardians initially drafted Jones in the second round in 2016 before the Rockies traded for him.

Freeman can play center field, shortstop, third base and second base. He is a career .233 hitter with 11 homers in 203 career games.
