Black thought he was being clever, but White was more clever. Lots of fun.
This game was Bachmann - Kunstmann Augsberg, 1899. Here’s the whole game.
1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.c3 Nf6 4.d4 Nxe4 5.d5 Ne7 6.Nxe5 Ng6 7.Bd3 Nxf2?? see diagram 8.Bxg6!! If White fell into Black’s idea he would lose 8.Kxf2 Bc5+ 9.Ke1 Nxe5 and wins 8...Nxd1 it’s messier, but White still wins after 8...hxg6 9.Qe2 Nxh1 10.Nc6+ Be7 11.Nxd8 Kxd8 12.Qf1 Rxh2 13.Qxf7 d6 14.Qxg6 Bh4+ 15.Kf1 Ng3+ 16.Kf2 Bf5 17.Bg5+ Bxg5 18.Qxg5+ Kd7 19.Qxg7+ 9.Bxf7+ Ke7 10.Bg5+ Kd6 11.Nc4+ Kc5 12.Nba3 Nxb2 12...Be7 13.b4# 13.Be3#
