Former “Meet the Press” host Chuck Todd said his tires were slashed outside of his home because of his reporting on President Donald Trump. And he claimed he’s not alone.

The ex-NBC pundit told Times Radio he’s “100%” experienced how raising the ire of the 47th president brings danger to the doorsteps of judges and journalists who question him.

“I dealt with it in the first term with him, and other reporters — there was direct correlation,” he told host Maddie Hale over the weekend. “He’d call your name out, you’d get weird phone calls. You’d get weird death threats. I got my tires slashed in front of my house.”

Todd hosted NBC’s long-running Sunday show from September 2014 to September 2023. His tenure included chats with numerous political figures including representatives from the first Trump administration.

Todd said he’s told the president that when he attacks his critics on a personal level, he puts them in danger. Trump responded by saying he was giving his detractors good publicity, according to Todd.

“I don’t think he’s doing it to create a security problem for these people,” Todd surmised. “What he wants to so do is deflect blame… the reality is it creates a security problem.”

According to Todd, the cost of providing security to judges and politicians Trump has raged about by name has added to federal spending. In some cases though, Trump has verbally targeted public officials who once served him, then taken away their government-provided security and left them to fend for themselves.

The president is also known to protect supporters who participate in acts of violence on his behalf. He began his second term in office on Jan. 20 by granting “a full, complete and unconditional pardon” to MAGA loyalists involved in storming the U.S. Capitol in 2021 to stop the certification of President Joe Biden’s electoral win over Trump.

Todd didn’t say where or when his tires were slashed or if he filed a police report.
