'THUNDERBOLTS*'

Rated PG-13 for strong violence, language, thematic elements, and some suggestive and drug references.

What it’s about: A group of Marvel Cinematic Universe misfits band together to form a team — one could even say they assemble.

The kid attractor factor: Teens will be drawn to the superhero story/genre and Marvel brand.

Good lessons/bad lessons: We're better together. Reach out for help.

Violence: Fighting, stabbing, shooting, various superhero-type combat — several of our heroes are mercenaries and assassins.

Language: Some swearing.

Sex: None

Drugs: References to being on meth.

Parents’ advisory: Fine for older kids and teens.

'THE SURFER'

Rated R for language, suicide, some violence, drug content and sexual material.

What it’s about: An American man embarks on a journey into the heart of darkness when he drives to buy his childhood home overlooking an idyllic Australian surf spot.

The kid attractor factor: This is an adult drama, no appeal for kids.

Good lessons/bad lessons: Beware groups of men. You can't always go home again but you can try to reckon with your past.

Violence: Fighting, beatings, shootings, suicide.

Language: Swearing throughout.

Sex: References to sex.

Drugs: Onscreen drug use — hallucinogens.

Parents’ advisory: Too mature for kids but fine for older teens.
