Television Q&A: Will 'Project Runway' be making fashionable return?

You have questions. I have some answers.

Q: People magazine reported that Heidi Klum will return to “Project Runway”; however, I did not see that the show was broadcast last year at all. Will it be back? On what channel?

A: The reality competition will be back sometime this year for a new season on Freeform, with replays on Disney+ and Hulu. The series previously aired on Bravo and Lifetime, with its most recent season ending in September 2023.

Freeform says the new version “will refresh one of television’s most successful reality competition series, making more dreams for aspiring fashion designers come true.” And yes, People.com said in January, Klum will be back with the show she left in 2018. Former “Runway” co-star Tim Gunn, meanwhile, told People that he was not invited back.

Q: Has there been any change in the apparent decision to not continue the “Blue Bloods” series? I'm still watching the reruns and still hoping for a reprieve.

A: While there are no known plans for more of “Blue Bloods,” the story of at least one Reagan family member will continue. CBS has given a series order for 2025-26 to “Boston Blue,” the working title of a sequel series starring Boston native Donnie Wahlberg. In what CBS is calling a “universe expansion” of “Blue Bloods,” “Wahlberg will reprise his role as … Danny Reagan as he takes a position with Boston PD. Once in Boston, he is paired with detective Lena Peters, the eldest daughter of a prominent law enforcement family.” Brandon Sonnier and Brandon Margolis, formerly of “The Blacklist” and “L.A.’s Finest,” will be executive producers and showrunners.

Q: Will there be another season of “Murder in a Small Town”?

A: Yes. In January Fox ordered a second season of the mystery drama based on the novels by L.R. Wright. Made in Canada, the series has several reasons for renewal, Deadline.com reported. It has a modest budget “for a network-quality drama” and, in addition to its broadcast numbers, a good-size streaming audience on Hulu.

Q: We really enjoyed the visual brain teasers on "The 1% Club" with the hilarious Patton Oswalt. Any chance it will be back for Season 2?

A: Fox has ordered a second season of the show for 2025-26, only without Oswalt as host. Instead, that role will be added to Joel McHale’s sizable workload.

The recent columns about viewers’ TV peeves have generated a lot of mail, including this letter.

Q: In almost every TV cop show, the bad guy runs, jumps into a getaway car and speeds away as the cop stands there with a gun pointed uselessly at the vehicle. Or worse, the cop shoots at the frame of the vehicle. I sit there yelling at the screen, "Just shoot the tires!" No one ever does that!

A: While I have seen some shows where tires are targeted, according to many sources that is in fact a bad idea. For example, in a 2017 essay in the Providence Journal, a former police officer said of one incident: “Officers, armed with small caliber pistols, knew that a bullet or a dozen bullets fired into a truck tire would not have stopped the threat. Some of those bullets might not have penetrated the tire or ricocheted, presenting serious danger to the officers and innocent bystanders. Even if the police were able to deflate a tire, the truck would have remained a deadly weapon. The rubber of the tires would have continued to provide sufficient traction to allow the driver of the truck to continue to smash it into the cars blocking his exit.”
